Delay in Rollout for SCIS Card!
Robert Poole, Indian Registration & Band Lists (IRBL) Manager and Chris McDonell, the new Executive Director of the Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) Task Force confirmed that the regional offices would not be given the ability to process SCIS applications until at least the Fall of 2010. There was no mention of when the IRAs would become involved. In the interim, there will be a number of mobile SCIS Application centers held across Canada in late April.
Regarding the McIvor Case Decision, INAC doesn’t know yet who will be affected.
They are waiting for the Indian Act to be amended (end of summer 2010). No changes yet, if applicants apply now they will be denied. INAC will send out an update & New applications at that time.
TNG will continue to keep you informed as we receive updated information.
