FISHERIES

Fisheries Staff

Main | Job Descriptions| Fisheries Staff | Commercial Fishery

Paul Grinder, Fisheries Coordinator

Paul is the Fishery Coordinator for the TNG. With his job comes numerous responsibilities, and because the TNG office is not at full management capacity, I also have additional responsibilities added to my regular job outline.

Presently, he is also involved in the education for the Tsilhqot'in Nation. This involves building capacity for the TNG office and the Nation.

Added to this, Paul is also dealing with issues surrounding residential school. He meets with lawyers and gather information for community members that are Residential School survivors. Along with this, the Fisheries Department also deals with wildlife issues.

Paul is looking forward to working with all the people along the rivers this coming summer, and encourages all participants to practice cooperation which helps to make life for everyone easier.

Chris Nowotny, Contractor

Chris Nowotny joined TNG in Sept. 2009 as a contracting biologist and forester.  He began with administration and delivery of a Western Economic Diversification Silviculture Training Project which was completed in March 2011 after seeing approximately 300 community members trained in more than 20 different courses that has helped them gain employment in silviculture-related contracts as well as fire fighting.

He is now working closely with Paul and Randy in the fisheries department to advance the Tsilhqot'in Commercial Fishery which began in the summer of 2010, the year of the historic sockeye run.
