| Commercial Fishery The Chilcotin River sockeye has been an integral component of Tsilhqot’in culture for centuries. In 2010 the TNG initiated an inland commercial fishery harvesting sockeye salmon from the Chilcotin River in accordance with their federal commercial fishing license and endorsed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Fish are harvested using traditional dip net techniques, and fishing typically occurs between mid- August and early-September.

This summer the Tsilhqot’in National Government did not harvest salmon due to a low sockeye return to the Chilcotin River.
If you would like to be placed on a pre-order contact list to reserve sockeye please print and fill out the form below. Please note, completing the form does not commit you to buying the fish. It enables us to notify you about harvest date and to make pick up arrangements.
Prices will be market driven. Last year, during our inaugural pilot fishery, the fish were sold whole for $15, or an average of $2.38 per pound of whole fish.
