Mining, Oil & Gas

The Mining department at the TNG coordinates engagement between Tŝilhqot'in communities and all mining proponents within the Tŝilhqot'in territory. The Mining Department coordinates review of and engagement for mineral, oil and gas exploration and development proposals within Tŝilhqot'in Territory.

The Mining Department works closely with the communities and Proponents to ensure that Tŝilhqot'in values are respected at all stages of exploration, and assists with negotiations when proponents seek to develop projects in the Territory.

Forestry

Forests are an integral part of the Tŝilhqot'in people's livelihood and as such the Nation works to protect our rights and interests within forest resource activities. As changes in the forestry sector are made, the TNG works to keep our communities informed about economic opportunities and protect our Aboriginal rights & title.

The land-based referral process creates opportunities for Tŝilhqot'in people to voice concerns and build traditional and cultural values into current projects to ensure preservation and respect.
